To all who don't know: Yasmeen was a 25 year old Pakistani girl who after marriage came to live with her in laws in Holland. She was an only child and by her very nature, a sweet, quiet and shy girl. Her father had died a few years ago and she and her mother had no one else. Her mother married her within the family to keep her close.
The uncle and aunt however, had other ideas. They wanted everything she owned by default of her father dying, to be theirs, hence the marriage to their son. She was married for 5 years during which she suffered mental and physical abuse at the hands of her in laws. She was kept as a slave. She didn't even posses a key to her own front door. She was beaten and starved. She has 2 children. A boy 3 and a little girl 1. She was murdered in the most brutal way 4 weeks ago and buried on wasteland by her husband. She was 3 months pregnant.
Her story needs to be out there. This culture of silence our community has needs to be broken. There should never be another Yasmeen. We need speak up and encourage others to do so if they suspect any sort of abuse.
The husband has been arrested but we are protesting for the mother and sister in law to be bought to justice also. They are equally culpable.
Please spread Yasmeen's story and raise awareness of this dark and shameful silence. This is indeed a very sad incident. Please pray for her. May Allah rest her soul in Jannah. Ameen
